  1. You mentioned how much physical and virtual memory you have on the box, but do you know how much your database server is using, including SGA, shared_pool_size and, if you don't use MTS, the total number of connections (each will use around 2M?)
  2. Oracle bug: memory leak. I'd search for it on Metalink
  3. Parameters like db_file_multiblock_read_count set too high? One time I raised it from 16 to 64, and that led to a 7GB memory leak in a matter of few hours, resulting in the problem you have run into. Good luck Jining Han
