lgwr performing direct i/o on unix platforms?

Hello,

a question recently came to my mind: is the lgwr process performing direct I/O on writing the redo logs on disk (direct i/o = no filesystem cache is used)? In other words, is it using a write-through-cache when writing the redo's on disk? On the unix platform it is.
