Peter, one point that should not be overlooked. If only one database needs recovery and it can be recovered to the time of the failure no additonal recovery of any of the distributed databases is requrired because the indoubt distributed transactions at the time of failure will (normally) be handled by the reco process.

You have a coordination issue that could force multiple recoveries only if you cannot recover one database all the way back to the point of failure. Even then if depends on the application and the nature of the data and its uses on what action you should take. Sometimes Oracle recoveries are required and sometimes some minor programming to re-sync data is all that is necessary.
