why? Crashes ? I/O contentions? Or just preoccupied?

I'm using ASM on Solaris and I love it. It's usage is very straight forward the learnig curve is very low. With EM you even have a solid GUI for it.

We also have Veritas ond SUN. Never had any problems, however if you don't know your way around, better get some good training in the beginning. For me it's very hard to get around with Veritas.

We also use SDS. Much handier that Veritas, however it seems that the I/O handling is not realy as good as it could be. We continuously face bad I/O performance with Oracle on SDS managed slices.
