Hi,

There is some "information" on AST/BAST in the old 8.1.7 OPS manual:

http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/paraserv.817/a76968/pslkgdtl.htm#11052

Unfortunately, the RAC manual does not have even that and it's unclear how applicable the above description might be.

You can find some additional information on how AST/BAST is used in OPS DLM here:

http://aesop.doc.ic.ac.uk/pubs/oracle/oracle.pdf

Apparently, Oracle borrowed the names and may be the ideas from VAX Cluster DLM. There is a DLM public domain implementation here:

http://opendlm.sourceforge.net/showdoc.php?docpath=cvsmirror/opendlm/docs/odlm-locking&doctitle=OpenDLM_VMS_Lock_API&docauthor=stanley.wang(at)intel.com
