Advanced Rewrite

I am working on an Advanced Rewrite demo for the U and have run into a bit of a problem so help is solicited.

I can use DBMS_ADVANCED_REWRITE to easily rewrite a query when viewed from the standpoint of Explain Plan. The full demo of is available at http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_adv_rewrite.html. But trying to show this by looking at 10053 trace files, trying to show this looking at V_$SQLAREA, etc., and trying to show this by other means fails: It still appears as though original query being executed.

Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks.
