It depends on many factors. If this is for school work ... read your textbook and the documentation. If this is an attempt to spoof an interview read the documentation and get real-world experience. If this is idle curiosity the answer is far too complex for a sound-byte answer. If you have specific issue ... run an Explain Plan and then ask it.
