Remembering the original poster in this whole business, he asked whether it was safe to go bigger than 2GB. It is. I told him that it was so. I also mentioned a caveat: that his backup/recovery strategy might be affected.

That's all. I gave him information with which to make a decision.

You on the other hand have felt the need to dismiss my caveat, blythely saying "hardware can cope", without any knowledge of this specific You on the other hand have felt the need to dismiss my caveat, poster's hardware situation.

Your advice is wrong in principle, wrong in this specific matter of fact and, most important, unsafe. No doubt you would like me to not reply, so that your inanity can be let pass without comment. But tough luck.

This isn't emotions running high, though if it makes you feel any better, feel free to keep believing anything you like. It's a concern for the original poster not to be mislead by your silly and technically inept advice.
