I have no environment variable set on my system name _SQLPLUS_RELEASE or _O_VERSION: Neither do you.

But I did fine the answer to my question ... at the SQL> prompt just type the word DEFINE and <Enter>.

The PSOUG web site library has now been upgraded with this information.
