Well, a VMware fanatic AND a White Box Linux one. :-)

I like VMware because it means Oracle stays in one well-encapsulated place, and doesn't waltz all over a perfectly good (physical) machine configuration. It makes an Oracle sandbox environment very portable between physical machines. It means I can run RHAS3 (ie WBL) regardless of my physical O/S, so my learning environment is consistent. It gives Windows users a chance to use a real O/S. And it means I can indulge my habit of installing new distros and other O/Ses whenever I like without kissing goodbye to my real machine each time.

Oh, and it means I can build RAC and Data Guard and other exotic configurations all on my stately old laptop.

For learning/training/mucking about purposes, it really can't be beaten (IMHO, of course). The only slight bummer is the price, but I reckon there are worse ways of spending US$189.

Regards
