Well that ORA-00476 is a definate clue. If the recovery process (RECO) is killed, then PMON must
shutdown the database, otherwise you will be into a no-recovery possible situation.

Now, why did RECO die? Check for problem in /var/adm/messages (or the linux equivalent),
also check the 25903.trc file in strace. Do you have archivelog mode enabled? Is it automatically
archiving logs? It does not look like it? It might be in some kind of half archiving mode? Received on Tue Oct 26 2004 - 18:30:47 CDT
