Actually, the same could be said for any service provided by a passive listener - http, ftp, etc. Just about everyone who has a DSL, Cable or other 'always-on' internet connection has had a port scan in an attempt to find available services that might be exploited.

Oracle has a few solutions to this 'problem' which amount to DNS services of sorts - Oracle Names and Oracle LDAP providing the technology behind that. Like DNS, they need to be updated.
