As this is a platform swap, export/import is your only option. This method is not necessarily 'very slow' provided you don't run with the default parameters.
There used to be an article on Connor Mc Donalds site, http://oracledba.co.uk with tips to speed up (primarily) import. On 10g, according to Oracle, import is alos faster.
