Still not really enough to go on... "glibc2" covers a lot of sins. The decimal points are important when discussing that software's versioning.
Maybe Norm can chip in with some advice.
Mine is to forget that particular combination. 10 and 10g is OK: been there and done that. But 10 and 8i... tricky.
Not saying it can't be done, just that I don't know how to do it.
You've got a 2.6 kernel which causes even 10g some grief, and yet an ancient Oracle version that was first released very early in the 2.4 days, if that.
Does it have to be those two?
At http://technet.oracle.com, you can download 9i and 10g, and both of those are immensely more likely to get on with a 2.6 kernel than 8i.
