insert cyrillic char

Hi,

I have a script, in UNICODE,
to insert cyrillic char
my database is 8.1.7.4 UTF8 HP-UX 11.0

I tried to execute the scripts from my pc under XP and 9i
with NLS_LANG= AL32UTF8
or with NLS_LANG=WE8MSWIN1252
no success, odd char

from the server with NLS_LANG=american_america.UTF8 no success, odd char

What is the right way to do that ?

How to check the charaters in the database are correct ? and not a problem of displaying them
(something like hexa dump ?)
