In my opinion for somebody with tight budged RedHat 7.2/7.3 is the way to, it's very close to RHAS(ES) 2.1. It's very visible that Oracle main OS target for Intel platform is RedHat.
Cheapest version of RHES is $350.00(?), I use it for 9i + RAC and didn't have any problems.
