I don't know about other systems, but on Linux 10g installs a daemon which contacts Oracle once an hour for some unknown purpose. It's quite possible that installer needs IP address to configure that daemon.

If you want to remove daemon, you need to remove a line in /etc/inittab and a link in /etc/rc.d/rc5.d (Red Hat info, on other systems might be different). Better yet, make a copy of /etc/inittab before installing 10g. Received on Mon Aug 23 2004 - 16:53:51 CDT
