Forgive this if this is a duplicate. I got an error on the post attemp. When that happens sometimes the post makes it and someitmes it doesn't.

Basically if you add a datafile to a tablespace by mistake or with the wrong parameters the only way to remove the file from the tablespace and to have the tablespace still be accessible with versions 6.0 - 9.2 is to re-create the tablespace.

Been there, done that. It is a bit of a pain.
