Interesting. Which version? Mine doesn't do that in XP Pro with 9ir2. 10g? Is that swap size only, or nothing at all allocated?

I think we established that. The issue is that in some OSs, it means nothing as the SGA_MAX_SIZE gets allocated no matter what.
