Autoextend option of tablesapce in oracle is not extending tablespace size automaticlly

Hi All ,

       Oracle 9i is running on AIX unix box . Initial dbf file size was 1 GB 
       with Autoexpand option enabled . Maximum file size was set 32767 to MB 
       with increment 56 K Bytes per extension and File System size is 10 GB.
       I expected once tablespace size will reach to 1GB  , it will be auto 
       extended . But unfortunately this is not happening . Looking forward 
       for help from all of you .
