Pro, I hope? Home isn't supported. (That one hit many of us when we started with this OS, in several points in the docs Oracle just wrote XP, assuming everyone knows that of course they mean XP Pro.)

While Processor speed isn't such a big issue, I'd guess your memory is a tad low. It's an old system, have you defragmented the hard disk before setting up the new database?

Depends on what you compile into the database.
