Among other unrelated components, the following items are part of patch 1963261 (8.1.6.3.7):

EXE & DLL SYM
--------------- ---------------

exp.exe
imp.exe
lsnrctl.exe
oracle.exe oracle.sym
oraclient8.dll oraclient8.sym
oracommon8.dll oracommon8.sym
oracore8.dll oracore8.sym
oractxx8.dll
oradbicx8.dll oradbicx8.sym
oradim.exe
orageneric8.dll orageneric8.sym

oraimr8.dll
orajox8.dll
oran8.dll
oranjni8.dll
oranl8.dll
orannzsbb8.dll
orapls8.dll orapls8.sym
oraspawn.dll
orasql8.dll
oratrace8.dll
owm2.dll
proc.exe
procui.exe
procus8.dll
tnslsnr.exe

See how all SYM files have a correspondant in the executable column.

The instructions give an itemized list of components to install. All executables in the left column are named, and all SYM but one get named.
The exception is orapls8.sym

My guess is that if they put both orapls8.dll AND orapls8.sym in the patch, both should be installed.

The instructions would have you install orapls8.dll BUT NOT orapls8.sym

Those SYM's (symbol tables) always go paired with their executables.

So who's right, the patchset, or the instructions? Received on Fri May 28 2004 - 13:09:01 CDT
