So is the performance of "select queries" is not dependant on the way in which the table is populated with data ? I was thinking that the data will be organized differently on the physical disk with option 1 and option 2. With option #2 the data pertaining to a batch is co-located and is faster to seek hence delivering faster response times. Any opinions ?
