The binaries are named differently ,so each set of apps ( if properly written) should only use the correct one...Be sure BOTH ORACLE_HOME/bin directories are in your PATH..( usually V7's before V8's )

If that does not work, then you need to change the correct ORACLE_HOME and PATH variables to point to the one you want, before running the app(s).
