Level 12 Trace

Disclaimer: We are in the process of upgrading our Oracle database.

We are doing some performance tuning and I need to trigger the 10046 event with level 12 tracing. I read somewhere that it can be done through the dbms_support package, but the procedure in question is not available in 8.0.5.

Is there any way I can alter a session to do level 12 tracing, trace_sql_in_session does level.
