Here's the situation:

I am getting the ora-12525 tns timeout error when trying to connect to my oracle server at home from my office computer.

I am running Personal Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I use a NetGear wireless router with port forwarding to 1521. My listener has the connect_timeout parameter set to 0. I also added the parameter use_shared_sockets = true to sqlnet.ora tnsping seems to work successfully.

Here is the output from tnsping:

Used TNSNAMES adapter to resove this alias Attempting to contact <DESCRIPTION = <ADDRESS_LIST = <ADDRESS =
<PROTOCOL = TCP>
<HOST = MYHOSTNAME><PORT = 1521>>> <CONNECT_DATA = <SERVICE_NAME =
MYSERVICE>>>
OK <1840 msec> Received on Wed Mar 10 2004 - 11:36:11 CST
