RMAN MAXSETSIZE & MAXPIECESIZE

Hello,

The docs advise to set MAXSETSIZE to the maximum file size supported by the OS (or the media manager).
Wouldn't it be best to use MAXPIECESIZE instead? Otherwise, what's the usefulness of MAXPIECESIZE?
I'm also wondering why MAXSETSIZE must be set globally or for each backup whereas MAXPIECESIZE must be set for each channel... Received on Mon Mar 08 2004 - 05:53:59 CST
