Thanks a lot for all the info and suggestions. I fully agree with'em. BTW - I'd like to share results of the test I've made:

Configuration:
CPU: 2 x AMD Opteron
RAM: 1024MB (PC 266 ECC-registered)
OS: Windows 2000 Server (32-bit version) DBMS: Oracle 8i (8.1.7) win32

Results:
Installation: goes without problems
Efficiency: medium
Reliability: POOR - Oracle services "die" when the instance (quite simple, made only for tests: 20 tablespaces and 100 large tables) gets bigger than ca. 16GB

Conclusion:
Use of this combination is NOT recommended for any professional purproses. Received on Thu Mar 04 2004 - 04:51:19 CST
