No one should refrain here from asking a question for fear of flames, chief! Or if they do, they really shouldn't take it as some sort of directed criticism: most of the time it's not even intended.

This usually means there is something very wrong with the setup of Java in your system. Have you just installed a JRE from scratch or you are using the default orainstaller one? Have a look around at environment variables in the SYSTEM applet in the control panel. If Java is installed, there should be some vars like CLASSPATH and PATH setup with folder names that do actually exist. Try downloading some example "Heloo World" Java source and running it from the command line: that usually highlights any problems with Java setup.
