DBCA crashes when installing it with RAC 10g

I have installed CRS on a 2 node RHEL3.0 cluster. The CRS daemons are up and running and CRS install does not report an error. The ORacle 10g installation also goes thru but the DBCA fails It Says
"PRKS-1011:Failed to check status of ASM instance "+ASM1" on node "node1",[CRS-0210:Could not find resource ora.node1.ASM1.asm.]"
has anybody faced a similar issue. And how to start resources especially ASM
