Yes - many times. I am little bit surprised that you did not utilized it before. I guess, happens.
It is actually pretty standard technique of moving data between platforms or just moving very big tables across databases (this or CTAS across db_link, same colo or colos with a good link between them)
Mostly did it on Sun hardware. Last time moved about 150M records, not sure about exact time.
It always beats exp/imp times ahead (you tell me why ;-)) and has other obvious benefits (like no need to generate huge files, etc).
