Missing a fact or two is neither here nor there. Posting incorrect advice from 1995 without letting anyone know that said advice was 8 years out of date is not quite in that league (and your colleague DB did precisely that). If one is going to promote oneself as one of the world's leading Oracle experts, then a mistake or two is fine, but rampant howlers are not.

I think you might be confusing Richard with someone else. What he posted was a reasoned explanation of why DB's article was "tripe". A diatribe it was not.

>post negative ratings for

Gosh. DB only wants positive ratings, eh?

What, by not buying into the self-promoting DB's line that he's the greatest Oracle expert since sliced bread? Bothersome for DB, perhaps. But a useful corrective for most people, I think.

Yes, this tends to be the TUSC way, doesn't it? Threaten them with lawsuits and keep it all private via email so that one's shiny public reputation as a wonderful Oracle Guru isn't tarnished at all. DB put this article out there, in public. He should be prepared to receive criticism and critical analysis of it in like manner. And your good mate RN could usefully learn the same lesson. Otherwise the word 'hypocrisy' comes to mind.

Oh dear. You've picked a doozy this time. If there's one poster who has demonstrated very good knowledge here over and over, with practical examples demonstrated and dissected, it's Richard. Your criticism of Richard is as misplaced as your defence of the saintly DB.

>You and those like you are the reason I shun most online

I have found time and again that those who like moderated groups tend to be those who dislike having their glowing reputations subjected to honest scrutiny. Behaviour I would characterise as insecurity at best. Fortunately, just as Richard is free to express his well-reasoned opinion of DB's article, you are likewise free to shun away.
