Lets split your problems into 2, not so that there are twice as many, but so that we can break the problem down.

  1. Unable to start or shutdown a database.

In order to do this an osuser MUST be in the dba group assuming that you aren't doing remote startup with a password file. If you want the test user to manage the database with SYSDBA privs then you should put it into the dba group.

2. Unable to connect because of the 'lost contact' message. This I can't help with, but it does look like a permissions problem as well. Received on Tue Feb 03 2004 - 03:38:02 CST
