I learned some information about 10g in a public forum from an Oracle employee today so it gives me "permission" to state it here though to some this may not be new information.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about RAC and GRID with some people thinking GRID is just the new name for RAC and that this is a renaming of an existing, or modification of an existing, capability: It is not!

10g will have RAC. 10g will have GRID. You will be able to install and use 10g without either, with RAC only, with GRID only, and with both.

The differences between RAC and GRID are profound as they refer to two entirely different and separate technologies.

I wish I could say more, perhaps I can and don't know it, but this should all become general public knowledge very soon. And I think it is going to knock some people over when they understand what Oracle has done.
