And apart from that, I doubt whether thre diry is gone. It's just that you cannot dir the server anymore:

You have to *know* the patch number (and you'll need Metalink for that), and cd to that number.
At least, that's how updates.oracle.com works, after you logged in (using your metalink account), this appears:

230- Access to this system is limited to authorized users of Oracle
