rename the file listener.ora, or move it to a subdirectory.
run the listener control utility "lsnrctl".
stop and start the listener (the default listener is named "listener")
LSNRCTL> stop
LSNRTL> start
if there is no listener.ora file to be read, the listener "listener"
will start, listening on the default network address on port 1521.
change the password, set the password and save the configuration.
you now have a valid listener.ora file.
btw - did Oracle ever release a non-beta version of the server software for Mac OS X?
