Please take a look at the documentation
on dataguard.

Guaranteed zero data loss mode
can be setup to ensure that control
will not return until logs are shipped and applied to the stand by database.

It may slow down the application response to some extent.

Oracle RAC and dataguard should be more than adequate for supporting a redundant, fail-safe architecture
featuring a good disaster/recovery
plan.
