Why worry about smelly statements?

If you, in ignorance or stupidity, perform a cartesian join on a VLT or something similar, Oracle will do what you ask.

It will use all the resources at its disposal to do it.

And if you do not have a cap on the resource limits that Oracle is to put to use, it will push the hardware to its limits.

Calling that a design flaw is BS.
