You'll find detailed instructions on installing Oracle 9i Release 2 onto Red
Hat Linux 9.0 at my website www.dizwell.com. There is no requirement to
install any Java whatsoever. And your issue sounds suspiciously like you are
encountering RH9's native threads problem. All discussed and dealt with in
the relevant White Paper.
