Not just that. They also had one of the more arrogant corporate cultures I've ever seen. So many times I argued technical points with DEC's techos, only to be told to piss off because they were "DEC experts" therefore they "knew". We can see where their expertise landed them nowadays...
I know quite a few people out there who cheered when DEC went under, mostly fed-up with their over the nose attitudes.

Exactly. That is a point that people keep forgetting. Big Iron IS AROUND. And they are not asleep. Far from it. The problem is that before, there was healthy competition in that market. Nowadays, it's a monopoly. And a foul smelling one at that...
