Your last point is an excellent addition to the list. A good design, and a good designer, by definition must be flexibile.

And as an extension of your first point, not only must not only be able to communicate with managment. Must be willing to object and say 'no' in a proper and professional manner when managers make mistakes or give incomplete and/or insufficient direction.
