Yep...


what i was trying to say is to install RMAN executable on the host you have 
your destination backup stripe set, then perform backup from that host 
connecting to the actual host with the database thru Oracle Net.



If you take a look at the manual (RMAN Concepts), there is described a similar 
scenario.
