Mourning Richard,

if you don't know about rugby, you're jolly well going to have it shoved down your neck at every suitable (and completely un-suitable) opportunity over the next 40 odd years.

For example, do you know how many times the BBC mentioned the 1966 world cup victory on Saturday during the match - it was more than 4, because they even mentioned it 3 times in the last half hour.

On Sunday, most of the papers had references to 1966 on the front page etc etc.

Funnily enough, none of them mentioned Virginia Wade winning Wimbledon, which I find quite strange, because the relevancy of 1966 and Wimbledon are equal in the context of a Rugby World cup 0 totally irrelevant.

Next up we will have the England team winning the BBC Sports Personality of the year award (Team category) and Jonnie thingy getting the Sports Personality of the Year award.

Now, before anyone jumps in and slags me off for being a sour grapes Scotsman let me say this :

Well done to the England Team for winning.

It's just the media crap that will folly that pisses most people off - even my Mother in Law (English) and my Wife (Yorkshire) are fed up of it already.

I'm looking to emigrate to Oz, so if any of the usually whinging Poms down there get too enthusiastic in their denigration of Australia, chuck a couple of them out and let me and Alison in (my wife) instead. We've got a boomerang, a Didgeridoo and subscribe to Australian Geographic magazine, so we are well qualified Not only that, but one of Steve Irwin's Koalas shat in my sandal back in 2000 :o)

Cheers,
Norm.

PS. If that had been Manchester United winning in the last few seconds, almost everybody in the UK would be slagging them off (again). See what I mean about context :o)
