To be honest I always choose to create the scripts so it isn't a big problem, just annoys me. As does the fact that if you choose to delete a database it also deletes said db creation scripts as well. Not exactly terrible news but irritating.

Well I'd still like a valid archive destination, even if I'm not archiving yet. In addition if you specify archivelog mode it doesn't actually put it in archivelog mode until the very last stage (postdbcreation.sql just after creating the spfile) . This seems sensible to me.
