Michel,

"on which they have a quota" (see above) was clear to me, guess that I should have been more verbose. we are not in disagreement.

your users have the privilege unlimited tablespace? (either directly, or via a role).
I thought that went out the door at most places when they moved off of Oracle 7.3.4.
