Unfortunately this is simply not true, at least not for Oracle Logminer viewer 9.2.0.1.0. The choices and buttons you describe are simply not there.
You can use Set dictionary at which point you are forced to specify a file name. The data dictionary can not be used at all. So this might apply only when you are using the newest upgrade/patch, and it starts to concern/annoy me a bit upgrades are being released with the speed of the light and functionality is ever being added. Needless to say, we can't afford to install a patch/upgrade on all systems every few months. We rolled out OEM9i on all systems only 2 months ago.
