Depends. You've hardly given us enough information to help you.

My generic advice would be to NEVER use Oracle's datafiles and tablespaces for an
application. These are resources that should be created with an understanding of issues
ranging from performance to backup and recovery.

Why don't you post some information on what you are doing and let others take a look.
Worse case though, you've just made it slower and uglier. Nothing you did short of something
really stupid like using the SYSTEM tablespace could be deadly.
