what i actually have from the boss is release 2. i've installed the infrastructure product in its own home. Having made a note of the ias_admin password, port 1810 won't accept ias_admin/<passwd>, so i've gone wrong somewhere.

by "stack", i meant all the layers of JDBC, ODBC, etc. The iAS architecture in general terms.

yes, Portal is option 2, but requires infrastructure, which i've done. However, i've also done something else wrong.

i've installed all of infrastructre, including Single Sign in/on. But during the Portal installation, when the install program asks for the oracle host and port number, it won't accept the combination of <hostname> and 7777. So something else is wrong.

i'm wondering if it might be better to de-install the infrastructure and start again? any ideas where i went wrong?
