We have 64 bit Oracle on AIX 4.3.3 and we ran into some kind of problem with 64 bit programs. My partner set a compile option to generate 32 bit executibles that allowed the Pro*C programs to be compiled and run successfully without having to update the programs to be 64 bit.

I am not sure this is of interest but depending on the tool set there are some switches/options/parameters that allow mixing of 32 bit applications with 64 bit Oracle binaries.
