Charlie,

AIX 5.1 is a different beast than AIX 4.3.3. One very important difference is that AIX 5.1 or at least some versions of it can run as 64-bit mode. I agree with Daniel and Sybrand, don't even think about trying it. Even when you install versions of Oracle, which are certified to run on AIX 5.1/AIX 5.2, there are still many issues to work through.
